A commodity currency is one that depends a great deal on how much is coming into the economy from exports. The South African rand is an example of a commodity currency that relies gold.
Here are the major examples of commodity currency:
- Canadian dollar (CAD)
- New Zealand dollar (NZD)
- Australian dollar (AUD)
The US dollar is also sometimes considered a commdity currency.
