Forex Trading Terms: Currency Market Jargon

Learning FX jargon
Understanding FX jargon can be helpful to you as you place trades on the currency market. Here is some common jargon, mainly nicknames for currencies, that you are likely to come across:
  • Greenback: US dollar
  • Loonie: Canadian dollar
  • Swissie: Swiss franc
  • Kiwi: New Zealand dollar
  • Aussie: Australian dollar
  • Sterling: UK pound
  • Cable: term denoting the UK pound/US dollar pair
  • Yard: a billion units
  • Figure: round number (1.4000)
